About Jeff

I was born and raised in Seattle and graduated in 1991 from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA, with a degree in Asian studies and a minor in Chinese language (Mandarin). After studying in Asia, then living there for several years, I thought I was headed toward a career in Chinese interpreting and international business.

But in 1994 after some immersive work that addressed racism, sexism and homophobia, the world of equality, personal empowerment and justice opened up in exciting ways. My coaching practice was born and I haven’t looked back since.

The alphabet soup of my accreditations includes CPCC (Certified Professional Co-Active Coach) through the Co-Active Training Institute and PCC (Professional Certified Coach) through the International Coaching Federation.

I’ve been a faculty member of the Co-Active Training Institute since 1999, teaching CTI’s core coaching curriculum as well its year-long Co-Active Leadership program.

In 2012, I moved to Shanghai to help spearhead Co-Activity’s introduction in China! I helped grow the Chinese leadership team there… and I also grew my own world view both personally and professionally.

Additionally, I’m trained in Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead modality, and I’m a longtime member of the Lucid Living community.

I live in the Los Angeles suburb of Culver City, with my partner Terry. When I’m not hand-lettering or crushing on Brené Brown, I write a young adult series about the adventures of a gay teen witch, The Boy Who Couldn’t Fly Straight.

I love jumping rope and am a voracious reader of fantasy and urban fiction. I’ve completed the AIDS Life Cycle ride twice (that’s 565 miles x 2 = 1,130 miles) from San Francisco to Los Angeles… ask me about hydration or why road safety matters!
